Read the introduction

This is the true story of what really happened to me in my twenties, working at the top end of TV as a crew member — of course learning how to be a sound expert, a mixer, a dedicated crew person, but it's actually a story of people, and dealing with people.

I was unlawfully put in the gutter. But I didn't just survive — I thrived. Because TV is about navigating the psychopathy of co-workers. TV ranks number three among the professions most likely to bring you into contact with someone with a high degree of psychopathy. We all live among them every day — maybe you are one, to a degree. We all are. It's the extremes that class people as such, and TV, by its nature, lends itself to extremes.

In my story — from a court case to adventures all around the world, and some great people along the way — I set out some unreal yet fully attributable behaviours of people trying to carve their own careers in this tough, yet rewarding, business.
